What’s the difference between a counselor and coach?

Coaches are typically unlicensed and focus on personal growth, goal-setting, and guidance rather than treating mental health conditions. Choosing between the two depends on whether you’re looking for clinical support or forward-focused coaching.

Are Christian counselors as qualified as other counselors?
Yes. Licensed Christian counselors hold the same state credentials as any other licensed counselor (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, licensed psychologist), and they meet the same clinical training requirements. The difference is that they integrate their Christian faith with clinical care, offering a faith-informed approach within standard clinical practice. Their credentials are not separate from or lower than those of secular counselors.
