As a Christian teen, I wrote a career notebook about becoming a Family Therapist and my career path has been a beautiful love story to that end. My studies have included Psychology, Marriage and Family Life, Play Therapy, Brainspotting and Sand Therapy. Understanding the impact of neuroscience is a primary interest. Learning methods that require limited “talk” have also taken a front seat in my training as many clients struggle to put words with their pain. For children and youth clients, I believe that toys represent words and play is the language of representation of their internal struggles and can be resolved through therapeutic support.

Early life struggles with depression, anxiety and weight management inspired a hope to assist young people look toward Christ and find hope in their healing earlier rather than later. The Bible is an incredible guide to life and our Holy Scriptures are often muddled in a sea of self-help literature that’s seemingly everywhere.

My practice supports clinicians who desire consultation and supervision in the areas of Play Therapy and Brainspotting or Sand Therapy. I also actively engage in supporting clientele of all ages specializing in expressive therapy which allow options for non-verbal or “no talk” methods.

My PhD research focused on Anxiety and the use of Sand Therapy and Brainspotting to assist children who were dealing with anxiety symptoms. You can read more about the research at my website. I use this method frequently to assist anxious children.

Areas of expertise include Children and Adults with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also serve parents whose children, teens or young adults cope with mental health disruption and as parents seek guidance, support and ideas for navigating the sometimes-tricky days at home. school and in church settings.
