Life is difficult; circumstances challenge each of us and, at some point, we need someone with whom to talk. If you find yourself in this position and are willing to invest the time and do the work, I would be honored to help you do so. Everyone is comprised of biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual components. If one of those elements are missing or damaged, the person will not be whole and will continue to experience difficulties. Let us explore this together.
My vision of counseling is to work with you to help you discover the answers you need; the work you put into counseling will determine how successful the process will be. Counseling is personal and sensitive; information provided is treated confidentially. I am honored to walk with you during this season in your life and am as vested in the counseling process as are you. While an ideal client is one who knows they are powerless to control their wrong tendencies, who knows they are important to God, is ready to make a conscious decision to commit life and will to Jesus Christ, admits to faults, is willing to seek God’s wisdom to change, to seek forgiveness and to forgive those they have offended, you do not have to match these parameters before contacting me. Come as you are.
I provide Christian counseling services to individuals, couples, and families and bring a life of Christian faith and experiences into the counseling relationship. I am a student of Scripture and believe Scripture is the inerrant word of God in the original manuscripts and use it to guide my counseling. Prayer during session is also available.
Since everyone is unique, and as much in need of grace as am I, therapy is tailored to fit your specific needs. This is a place for you to feel safe and to talk about issues without being judged. I have first-hand understanding of grief, having lost both parents and a wife, experienced suicides by both friends and relatives, and have faced abortion, affairs, divorce, and challenges of alcohol use. I continue to experience God’s forgiveness and grace in my life and something I want to share with you.
Counseling is my second career, having retired from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections after 33 years. Subsequently, I returned to school and obtained my master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University in 2017. I have been licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a professional counselor in training since then, and deal with issues like depression, anxiety, grief, substance and behavior use, anger, and those who are mandated to be in treatment. During couples and family sessions, and with permission, my wife is available to join in. We are certified SYMBIS (www.symbis.com: Save Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitators and enjoy helping other couples. Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered 12-step recovery program that has been in existence since 1991, is an available resource for you; we co-lead the local chapter. It (Celebrate Recovery) is a ministry designed for anyone with hurts, hang-ups, and habits they wish to address and is not specific to those with substance use issues.
Solid Rock Counseling is a solo practice, and all are welcomed. I have a home-based office in Muscoda and offer telehealth sessions as needed. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check, and credit/debit card, with payment expected at or prior to each session.
I look forward to getting to know and work with you. May the peace of God that transcends all human understanding guard and keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
