Professionally, my Doctorate from Texas A&M University is in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Intelligence, Giftedness, and Creativity. Thus, I’m a therapist for creatives. However, after 15 years of being a professor and Christian counselor for creatives, I found myself in a nightmare. My husband confessed to sexual betrayal and the discovery of his sex addiction and intimacy anorexia almost destroyed me. My life shattered. Every aspect of my being was impacted physically, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually. I felt horrified, humiliated, and furious. It took me over a year to find a therapist who could help me recover and I discovered how much the church, as a whole, was unable to truly help me. There was a ton of support groups for my husband and his addiction, but the best most people could offer was ways to manage my pain as they tried to recover him. It wasn’t working for me. My life was shattered. I needed recovery, not pain management. I will never forget how lonely, unseen, and unheard I felt during those days, and, Sister, I don’t want you to feel that for a moment. You don’t have to go through all the pain I went through. I went back to school and got certified as a Betrayal Trauma Therapist and I will help you heal.
