My name is Matt Stevenson and I’m a Christian Counselor in the Edmond/NW Oklahoma City area. I try to distinguish myself as a private practice therapist by my deep belief that “heart change” is the key to emotional and behavioral transformation. I believe that Proverbs 4:23 speaks to this effort by saying “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (NIV). As the ‘guard’ or ‘gatekeeper’ of our own heart and core beliefs, it is our job to be aware and mindful of what those deep beliefs are that we allow in our core. And I try to help my clients identify and be aware of those beliefs and which ones line up with God’s Truth, and which ones do not. While I strive to offer a ‘safe space’ for clients to process past hurts and traumas, I am willing to lovingly challenge core beliefs that do not square with God’s Word. I’ve been in private practice since 2014 and I absolutely love working with my clients to lead them to deeper peace and joy.

I’m always taking new clients, and I accept most major insurances, including BCBS of Oklahoma, United Healthcare (Optum), Cigna, Aetna. And if a client does not have any of  those insurances, I have flexibility on my pricing for private pay.
