I’ve been a Christian Therapist (LMFT) in private practice for nearly 10 years. I’m in the Northwest Oklahoma City/Edmond area, officing with other mental health professionals. I’m always taking new clients (Individuals/Couples) and I take nearly all major insurance plans (BCBS, United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, HealthChoice, Healcare Highways). I try to make the counseling experience as affordable and accessible as possible! In a therapy session, I try to balance a listening heart with a clear mind. And that means that while listening is the first task, getting to the core of the issue and formulating a solid plan is my goal. I follow the scriptural mandate of “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Prov. 4:23), and “… be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:2). Using these scriptures as guides, I help individuals and couples find those core (heart) beliefs that are causing emotional pain, and replacing them with the Truth of God’s Word. After this, it is just a matter of putting these Truths into practice, which is the hard part. In this way, I try to strike a balance between being a “listener” and a “coach”, helping people put their faith into practice in their daily life. This is why I’ve named my practice Real-Life Counseling. I use a form of Cognitive Behavioral Counseling to help individuals through this process, and with couples I love to focus on how they handle conflict.
