About
One of the most rewarding parts of Larry's counseling work is prayerfully guiding couples to heal from their painful relationships. Destructive patterns of interaction are very wounding and cause emotional tears in relationships. After completing his master's degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, he has acquired experience and wisdom that only comes from many years of clinical practice. With the combination of additional training from the Gottman Institute and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, he can help couples begin to understand each other and develop healthier ways of interacting.
Larry's Christian faith, "faith-based counseling," is the foundation for his worldview and approach to counseling. God's Word is the best "self-help" book on the planet. Providing a safe environment filled with compassion, understanding, and hope is essential for healing to occur. Secondly, the counselor must utilize counseling approaches that actually work, and "evidence-based therapy" has been proven to be effective.
Larry firmly believes that no matter how technically advanced we become, our best efforts will be in vain without God's healing love. This is why he strives to have both: a mind equipped with the latest, most effective clinical skills and a heart filled with compassion and understanding.
