I grew up Catholic and did not become a believer until I was 27 years old. Now at 54 I have two children and been married 25 years. I struggled with incorporating faith and works at the same time. James 1:22 resonates with me, and I believe that hard work in therapy will manifest in fruit just in the same way that faith will result in works as a Christian. I try to honor a client with understanding and honoring their effort in therapy. Eventually my hope is to usher in the holy spirit and to identify or fear, hope, and action to have tangible steps in recovery.
