I’m Katie Forbes, a forty-something who is a wife, a mother, and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor for the state of North Carolina. My family and I live, worship, and do life in Davie County, NC.

I consider it one of the greatest honors of my life to be able to walk alongside of individuals, couples, and families, in the valleys and on the mountaintops. My professional experience includes anxiety and depression, adjustment and transition, grief and loss, sexuality, health and wellness, time management, finances, self-empowerment, relationships, family conflict, and women’s issues. I have experience facilitating psychoeducational groups, such as Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, mentoring groups (women), personal enrichment groups (college students), and faith-based small groups (identity, relationships). As a practicing professional, my counseling experience includes the assessment and treatment of the following populations: high-risk individuals, couples, and families; adolescents (age 15+); young adult/college students; adults; and couples.

My Christian Counseling therapy approach is a beautiful blend of holistic therapy -how the mind, body, and spirit- complement one another, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy. Together, I will work alongside of you to identify the presenting issue that brought you to counseling, create unique goals that complement the concern, and utilize sessions to focus on solutions in order for you to become the person God created you to be. With an impression of transparency, compassion, and a genuine spirit, I am dedicated to not only creating a comforting atmosphere, but I am also dedicated to building a healthy, supportive, and trusting relationship with you, which is crucial to the therapeutic relationship. Therapy is an investment for your well-being, as well as an educational experience – not just learning about yourself, but learning (and practicing!) new skills and tools that bring you to the point that you no longer need counseling to thrive and flourish. Each therapy experience is tailored uniquely and specifically to you.

In my personal life, I enjoy being a homebody or you can find me out-and-about-town with my family. I come alive when I am creating, reading a good book in my chair, listening to very loud music.
