John Thompson
SW (Social Worker)
About
John is a professor at Dordt University where he teaches courses in Christian counseling, counseling theories, psychopathology, etc. He has a PhD in applied social science (mental health/social work) from the University of Kansas, a MA in theology from Austin Seminary, a MA in philosophy from Colorado State University, and an MSW from the University of Utah.
He works with adults in many different areas such as identity & faith development, worry & sadness, life adjustments, navigating marriage & family relationships, finding meaning & purpose, dealing with habitual behaviors, forgiveness & repentance, men’s issues, etc. He also offers pre-marital & marital enrichment counseling for couples. For all of our human concerns, Christ-centered counsel involves a relational process grounded in the revealed Word of our triune God, aimed at Christ as our ultimate source for wisdom, healing, and growth.
When not teaching or counseling, you will likely find John exploring the North Woods of Wisconsin, lounging around with friends and family (wife and two children), walking around town with a podcast, or working on a new musical project.
