About
Hey, I’m Jacob. I’m a graduate level counseling intern at A New Life Christian Counseling in Vancouver, WA.
I build therapeutic partnerships where clients feel safe, encounter Christ, and experience true healing. My approach to therapy utilizes a Christ-Centered Therapy (CCT) framework, integrating the riches of the Christian tradition with evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). This integrative approach addresses spiritual health, trauma, addiction, and other struggles in a way that honors the body and the soul. I also specialize in helping clients break free from compulsive behaviors.
I have worked for the past 3 years as a mental health specialist in public school settings (primarily with K-2 and high school students). In my work with children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) to foster natural emotional expression and growth.
Beyond my clinical training, I bring over eight years of ministry experience working with adolescents in diverse settings. I have served as a church youth and worship leader, as well as a YoungLife leader for both middle and high school students. Most recently, my ministry work has extended to juvenile justice settings through YoungLife One, where I support incarcerated youth. My background also includes an internship at Christian Encounter Ranch, where I provided Christ-centered discipleship for at-risk teens in crisis. Ministry is foundational to who I am, and I approach counseling as a vital service to the Church and to my community. These years of service have deeply shaped my therapeutic approach, equipping me to offer a steady, compassionate anchor for clients navigating life’s heaviest challenges.
I am honored to walk alongside individuals as they navigate the complexities of life, journey closer to God, and develop their true identity in Christ. Click on my website to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.
I am under the supervision of Brad Peterson, LPC (Washington / LH6017262; Idaho / 5771980; Oregon / C3974).
