I hold a Doctorate of Ministry in Christian Counseling and am a Licensed Professional  Pastoral Counselor with advancement in children and youth therapy. I am also a Licensed Temperament Therapist. I provide counsel to children, youth, women, couples and families.

I am a graduate of NC State University and hold a BS in Pre-Med/Biology. Growing up I wanted to be a doctor and serve those who were hurting physically. I started my career at the State Laboratory of Public Health and worked in various areas of study in virology, immunology and bioterrorism. In 2008, God revealed another plan for my life. Following His calling was not an easy one but over time has led me to walking alongside His people who are hurting and are in need of healing spiritually, mentally and emotionally. He called me back to school to get my Masters in Pastoral Leadership. Through 15 years in ministry and a lot of life experience, God led me to Christian Counseling and to obtain my doctorate.

As a mom of four who has experienced infant child loss and child trauma, I love helping families find peace even in the storms of life. I have experience in serving families and also in coming alongside bereaved families to help them find healing. As a mom who has homeschooled for 17 years I love helping families navigate challenges with helping their children educationally and behaviorally. It brings me great joy to be a vessel used by God in reuniting marriages and helping parents see their kids through God’s eyes. I have experience in helping those with grief, anxiety, panic attacks, mood disorders, behavioral issues, relationship issues, past/current trauma, child and youth therapy, couples therapy, and many other life challenges. Some success stories have involved clients with Autism, ADHD, Selective Mutism, behavioral challenges, divorce, past trauma, loss of loved ones, anxiety in teens, and debilitating panic attacks, along with many others. There is nothing I won’t research and study so that my clients receive the care they need and deserve.

When God called me to Christian Counseling, I knew I wanted it to look different. I pray that it feels like you are sitting with a friend on a quiet farm (or via zoom) enjoying a cup of coffee. I pray this is a place where you feel loved and heard. I pray that children feel comfortable whether sitting inside or visiting the animals. My hope and prayer is that you feel welcomed and part of a family.

I offer therapy through a Biblical lens, committed to seeking healing for the whole person by understanding – body, mind and spirit. I enjoy using temperament analysis to discover who God created us to be before we were affected by our environment and life experiences. Memories and emotional wounds can keep us from fully experiencing the peace and joy that only Jesus Christ can provide. I thoroughly enjoy coming alongside my clients to help them find their true identity in Christ. I also provide Equine Therapy Counseling for those interested to help with a variety of mental health concerns such as emotional regulation, self confidence, responsibility, mindfulness, assertiveness, building relationships, empathy, impulse control, problem solving skills, social skills, trust in others, trust in self, etc. This is all done on our family farm so that each client feels more comfortable.

Tied in Knots Counseling has respectfully and graciously chosen not to participate in state licensure. It is my calling to offer counsel as ministry in an environment that is not required to operate free of a biblical perspective. The biblical perspective of counsel offers hope and healing beyond the limits of self and circumstances. I also believe that individuals are created in God’s image and can only feel complete and fulfilled through a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Thus, Christian counseling is very concerned with the spiritual as well as the emotional and physical needs of clients. The main goal of Christian counseling, like the goal of Christian living, is to enable clients to move toward greater emotional and spiritual health. I try to reflect the character of Jesus Christ and to love my clients as He does. While I do not force religion on my clients, I do urge them to develop a relationship with the only true Healer of the body, soul and spirit, Jesus Christ.

I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and determine the best option moving forward. Tied in Knots Counseling does not accept insurance for your benefit and to legally maintain the integrity of biblical counseling. Insurance companies require diagnostic codes that become part of your permanent health records. Tied in Knots Counseling’s approach to counseling allows me to support you in protecting your privacy so you are free to get the support you need without the limitations of the healthcare system.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 “….a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Life is a tapestry of knots woven together by love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. These knots of life give us minds that are confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery, the tapestry of life. All of the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! I’m telling you this because I don’t want anyone leading you on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries. The knotted tapestry of life is woven together by God and for God’s purpose. Our knot is filled with love, grace and mercy and therefore cannot be broken. Our tapestry wasn’t weaved the way we had planned but it was weaved by God and for that we are so grateful. He gave us a life that we couldn’t have dreamed of on our own. Our threefold cord is God, us, and our children. All of those make up our three fold cord and because of God and His strength, we are not quickly broken but weaved together more strongly because of the knots that were used to weave the tapestry.
