My own personal experiences with emotional abandonment and grief and loss have shaped me into a more effective clinician as I pursued healing in therapy and most of all, because of my relationship with Jesus. I gave my life to Christ on December 23, 2008. His faithfulness to me and the loving kindness He showed me as I confronted my unresolved grief and fears was like nothing I have ever experienced. He truly has released me and set me free from those chains. I know that He can do the same for the clients that I work with.

Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This is often a difficult scripture to believe and trust, but when we truly come to know Jesus, have accepted Him as our Savior, and experience and know that God is a promise keeper, this is one of the most comforting scriptures in the Bible. No matter the trouble or trials we face, God has good plans for us still, on the horizon, and we can trust that. The Bible is the blueprint for how we are to respond to trouble and trials in this broken world. The Apostle Paul tells us that we are to “be angry, and do not sin” (Ephesians 4:26) and Moses tells us in Genesis 1:27 that man and woman were created in God’s own image, emotions being part of God’s image and character that we were created after. Incorporating all this plus exploring God shows up for His people in the Old and New Testament, and that the entire Bible is the story of God’s rescue mission to return us to Himself for eternity, helps clients see life through a different lens, from a different perspective.

My approach to therapy is authentic, compassionate, and collaborative. I consider us, people, as whole beings with a spirit, soul, and body and because of that I most often implement Integrative Therapy. Utilizing a variety of evidence-based therapies and methods specific to the client, that come back to how God is working in the client’s life, and how the client is working with God in their life. God is always present, is always up to something. It is an honor and privilege to have been given the gifts God has given me to facilitate, guide, and encourage a client’s healing and their relationship with Jesus at the same time.
