Evelynn Rivadeneira
MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist)
About
Evelynn is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a special interest in relationships. When our relationships are unhealthy, we have conflicting expectations and we repeat destructive patterns of behavior. Evelynn will help you choose to communicate for connection. She uses a holistic approach that addresses mind, body, and spirit.
My spouse and I have been together for 40 years, and we have been married for 35 years. We have four adult children, but no grandkids yet. We are patiently waiting.
As a couple, we have had our share of pains, tribulations, rainy days, stormy days, and, of course, sunny days. We faced a season of disconnect when we moved to Florida in 2003. Divorce was mentioned but quickly discarded when we both realized the commitment we had made to each other when we got married. We were very active in our Church and decided to participate in a weekend marriage workshop that was being offered.
I thank God every day that we were open to participate in this workshop that weekend, as we received a shower of grace. Our eyes were open, and we learned to see each other through God’s lens. We opened our hearts and allowed the Holy Spirit to guide us.
We shifted from being self-centered to being Christ-centered. Micah 6:8 has become our motto: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” This verse emphasizes the essentials of ethical behavior, compassion, and humility in ALL our relationships, and if you are married, it begins with your spouse.
