I always feel strange writing about myself, but I know it’s important for you to have an idea of who I am. Professionally, I’m an Educational Psychologist, Christian Counselor, and Recovery Coach for the gifted, talented, and creative population. I have worked with teenagers navigating through emerging adulthood and Billboard Award winning artists. I earned my Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2006 with a specialization in Intelligence, Creativity, & Giftedness. Since 2004, I’ve presented my research at statewide, national, and international conferences regarding this population and was a psychology professor for 15 years prior to having children. I also am the founder of Understanding Giftedness, an author, a prayer and volunteer Christian Coach for my church, and a fierce advocate for creatives. In 2016, my personal world fractured and in 2019 completely shattered into pieces. My husband confessed of a number of sexual addictions and with the help of other marriage experts, I discovered that my husband was an intimacy anorexic. As a military brat and oldest child raised in a highly dysfunctional Christian setting, I had a layer of emotional resilience already, but the dismantling pain of betrayal trauma not only rocked me to my core, but it also devastated every aspect of my being. I felt it mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. I was beyond angry. I was beyond frustrated. I was shipwrecked with grief and anger and sadness and relentless questioning of myself, my marriage, and even my faith at times. How in the heck did I wake up to a life with this nastiness? I hated everything to do with Jezebel and sexual anything. Yet, God gave me heavenly grit and the grace to face every single day and today I can tell you that no matter what the enemy throws at you, Sister, you can go beyond recovery and into thriving. So, as you can guess, I went back to school and picked up my certification to be a Betrayal Trauma Therapist and I empower my sisters to heal, to find her ROAR, and to make the enemy wish he never encountered her family. I will work with ANY woman who has experienced betrayal, creative or not, and I will teach you everything I wish I had known as quickly as possible.
