Seeking a counselor can be a daunting experience and I commend you for your courage in taking this step.  I work primarily with teens, young adults, men, and couples who desire to create space to work on areas of concern in their lives and relationships,  though I am also open to talking with you about counseling whether you feel you fit in those categories or not.

My goal is to explore your story together in a gracious way with the goal of increasing your ability have a compassionate self-awareness and to work with troubling thoughts, emotions, and experiences.  I will work with you to get to the ‘thing beneath the thing’ of what you are experiencing and struggling with as individuals and couples, so that you can move from minimizing, avoidance, self-contempt, etc…  towards self-awareness, recovery, greater coping, balance in life, development of new skills and understandings, and thriving.

I work with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, including past and current trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, emotional distress, men’s issues, grief and life/career transition issues, and with those seeking to understand and work with emotional experiences.   I also work with faith leaders, those involved with ministries and non-profits, and those healing from traumatic experiences in religious communities.

With premarital and marital couples work I see the couple as the ‘client,’ and focus on the growth and thriving of your relationship.  We will focus on stabilizing and building your relationship in times of stress and crisis, growing in intimacy and connection, and cultivating your relationship so that resilience and joy can flourish.

I have been privileged to work with teens, adults, and couples in seasons of crisis, growth, and challenge for the past 20 years as a pastoral counselor, a counseling intern, and a mental health counselor.
