We live life in relationship to others, which can be quite challenging at times. We often end up feeling lonely, withdrawn, and wondering if we’re good enough when those challenges arise. Then, when we lose an important relationship for whatever reason, we can go into deep and complicated grief. We act in ways we never thought we would, and can’t figure out why. We may get angry easily, withdraw from everyone, look for comfort in drugs, alcohol, or food, or have difficulty sleeping. Sometimes we question everything we believe. You have taken a very positive step by deciding to seek therapy. There are no miracle cures. I cannot promise that your behavior or circumstance will change. I can promise to support you and do my very best to understand you and your repeating patterns, as well as to help you clarify what it is that you want for yourself.

I attended Adams State University for an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling because of its reputation for excellence in counselor education and its accreditation. I am licensed in the State of Colorado. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. I have been practicing since January 2013. Much of that time was spent working in addictions counseling. From 2013 to 2020, I was the director of the Salida Pregnancy Resource Center which has changed my focus to families and relationships. I am a member of the Chaffee County Early Childhood Council through which I have gained much post-graduate learning in Early Childhood and Infant Mental Health. From 2019-2023, I was contracted with First St Family Health to provide Behavioral Health Care Management in the office for all ages.

My experience has been in helping clients with relationships, stress and anxiety, sleeping disorders, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. I also have experience working with depression and substance misuse problems. I believe healthy relationships with God, others and ourselves are foundational to better mental health. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My approach is client-centered and holistic in that I take a look at all aspects of who you are to understand where you are now and how we can get to where you want to be.

In therapy, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Forgiveness Therapy, Grief and Loss, Hope-Focused Couples Counseling, and The Gottman Approach. I will tailor tools and techniques to you to best meet your needs. I will meet you where you are and provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to be able to work through these issues that have brought you here today.

It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. Thank you for reaching out.

I’m here for you.
