Amy Tyler
Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor
About
Throughout my life, I have faced many challenges, beginning when I was 12 years old and my parents were going through a divorce. During that difficult season, my dad took my sisters and me to church, and that is where my relationship with God began. Looking back, I can see how God knew what I needed before I did. Time and again, He has moved in my life and provided exactly what I needed, even before I realized I needed it.
After being a stay-at-home mother for 15 years, I sensed God telling me it was His time for me to take the next step. That led me to pursue my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through a seminary. During my master’s program, I walked through one of the most challenging seasons of my life. Instead of running away, God gave me what I needed to remain faithful and stay in the battle. The verse that anchored me during that time was 2 Corinthians 1:4: God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others with the same comfort we have received from Him.
When it is appropriate and welcomed by the client, I incorporate Biblical teachings into the counseling process. For clients who are comfortable, prayer can be a meaningful way to begin or end a session together. I may also invite clients to reflect on Scripture or find verses that can serve as an anchor during difficult seasons. I often weave Biblical truths into our work when the moment feels right, always with care and respect for where each client is in their faith journey. One thing I know to be true is that the Holy Spirit is always at work in the room.
