Dr. Van Dyken brings nine years of clinical experience across North America and ten years as a psychology professor in the Middle East, offering a profound understanding of what it means to navigate complex, high-stakes, and deeply sensitive environments. He has actively contributed to human rights initiatives and church-based efforts dedicated to exposing abuse and protecting the vulnerable.

Pathways Counseling is a Christian counseling practice. Dr. Van Dyken recognizes that some of the most painful wounds are inflicted within Christian institutions, families, and leadership structures. Dr. Van Dyken has been a dedicated advocate within Christian spaces for those enduring “church hurt,” spiritual abuse, and the fallout of broken trust. Here, your pain, questions, and disillusionment are met with profound theological and psychological safety—never with judgment or superficial answers.

Dr. Van Dyken believes that trust opens worlds, and worlds beyond those worlds. Too often, institutional trauma or conditional environments shatter a person’s ability to trust God, others, or themselves. Pathways Counseling is designed to rebuild that foundation gradually and respectfully. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, or deep spiritual wounds, you are given the space to reclaim your voice and gently explore a path toward genuine healing and belonging. To understand the core values driving this approach, clients are encouraged to explore the Pathways Counseling Vision (pathwayscounseling.co/vision).
