The Pavillion of Hope Counseling was founded by Dr. John Gomez who served as a facility chaplain in a carceral institution and is an ordained minister and ordained chaplain. Dr. Gomez served as a missionary and associate pastor in the Republic of Panama for four years during his tour in the military. He is a board-certified Christian counselor with the International Board of Christian Care, has counseled those experiencing catastrophic events, and teaches pre-marital courses in his church. John has heralded the Gospel since 1990 and strongly believes in serving those experiencing stressors and difficulties and who need Christ to overcome their challenges. He has earned a Doctoral Degree in pastoral counseling from Liberty University and is the head chaplain for a four-state area in the International Fellowship of Chaplains. His primary duties and responsibilities as the head chaplain are to provide chaplaincy to the chaplains assigned to this region. Spending over twenty years in the military, John is thoroughly experienced with working and serving people of different ethnicities, beliefs, and world views. His military service and the experiences learned in the corporate arena have allowed him to understand how a chaplain can positively impact people’s lives by providing the “ministry of presence.” John is married and has four adult children and two grandchildren. He enjoys weightlifting, riding a bicycle, and watching professional boxing. He is a native of Brooklyn, NYC, and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
