After practicing general surgery for twenty-four years, God is now leading me into life coaching, along with writing, speaking, and podcasting. I completed the biblical counseling training through the AACC, but then also finished over 100 hours of training in Christian life coaching, with emphasis on mental health, neurobiology, and human flourishing. My mentor is Bill Faris, MPC (billfaris.com). My mission and vision comes from Isaiah 61:

Isaiah 61:1–3
[1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
[2] to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
[3] to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,

I enjoy helping thirsty people learn how to drink from the river of delight that God is offering to them. I utilize prayer, Bible study, and Holy Spirit-led conversation with my clients in order for us to collaboratively discover the wise path that God has for each of us. I have life-experience in a challenging profession, and I understand how hard it can be to transition to a different season of life. I have experienced grief, after having lost both of my parents in the last three years. I am happily married for over twenty-four years, and I have three teenage sons. I live in Kodiak, Alaska, and do all of my appointments over Zoom.  I fellowship at Frontier Baptist Church in Kodiak with my family.

A typical coaching session with me starts with prayer, and then open-ended discussion of the client’s choosing. As the client’s story unfolds, I will ask questions, and bring in Scripture that may shed light on the situation. We will discover a plan forward together through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and come up with action points to be accomplished for the next meeting. I am a safe, warm, healing presence, and I encourage my clients through the beautiful gospel message of Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us. He will empower us, guide us, and direct us, because we are His precious treasure.

My spiritual gifts include prayer, faith, teaching, healing, biblical wisdom, compassion, kindness, and love. The joy of the LORD is my strength.
