About My Practice

Trauma is a part of most people’s story. Things happen in our lives…subtle or monumental. Much of the time, the lasting impact from trauma comes from how we’ve learned to cope with it more so than the event itself. When we sustain a trauma, we tell ourselves something that makes sense at the time. But because trauma typically occurs when we are young, what we tell ourselves is usually from a very limited understanding of the world and of our God. This is how trauma becomes a soul wound.

Over time, the way we’ve learned to cope or what we’ve believed steers our life. We get to a point where what we’ve told ourselves no longer serves us; it hinders us. The fruit of living this way looks different for everyone. Some will have very high, demanding standards for themselves, living overwhelmed and stressed. Others place very high demands on those around them. Some learn to perpetually distract themselves to avoid troubling areas. Some become fixers; some become people pleasers, and some become controllers. Some people just plain get stuck and can’t put their finger on why.  As a certified Christian Life Coach, I help people recognize destructive or useless patterns and soul wounds. I accompany them through healing and into freedom.

What is Coaching?

To help people understand the differences between counseling and coaching, I like to offer up a picture of a 1970’s station wagon. There are times we need to sit in the way back of that station wagon, looking at where we’ve been so that we can see how we got where we are. This is what we do when we sit with a licensed counselor. It’s an important, necessary seat many of us may need to be in, at some point in our lives. In coaching, we’re sitting in the front seat, looking through the big, wide window of the present, and preparing to go forward. We turn our eyes to the rearview mirror from time to time for useful reflection, but with a renewed focus on discovering where to go from here. We look back, as needed, to get perspective and understanding, not to blame others for where we are. In this way, I help clients reclaim their power and learn how to move forward in all God has for them.

As a life coach, it’s my honor to sit “up front” with clients and focus on looking ahead. As a Christian life coach, I invite God to sit with us, as I help my clients tune into His presence, surrender their past, embrace the adventure of where they’re going, and learn to see God in new ways. I serve women and men of all ages and stages of life, from late teens to great grandparenting. I have specialized, extended training as a relationship coach.

After the Session:

After each session, I put a great deal of time and care into writing summaries of each session for my clients. For every 1-hour session you have with me, I invest another 1-2 hours writing your summary.

These summaries function as placeholders. I encourage clients to print them, read them and make notes on them. We open every coaching session looking back at the previous summary, to whatever degree the client would like. In this way, we make forward progress, little by little. In other words, we’re not just talking. We’re moving from where you are to where you want to be.

About Me

Bridget thought the ashes in her early life had been evidence of an absent Heavenly Father. But when she was led to look for God everywhere, she discovered His beauty had been there all along. Bridget helps others recognize His Presence in their own lives. She is a certified Christian life coach through the International Coaching Federation and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors as well as New Life Ministries. She is passionate about helping people experience God and find His best for their lives.
