As believers, we are called to be like Jesus by engaging with all of our emotions, and just as he wept, laughed, grieved, hoped, feared, and yelled, we also must learn to be godly in our joy and our lament. However, so many Christians wrestle with the potential “sinfulness” of their emotions like anger, fear, and anxiety, and don’t understand that our emotions are gifts from God that we must learn how to steward. Learning to hear our emotions without being driven by them is so similar to learning how to hear God through the deafening noise of normal life; it’s a challenge, but a worthy one.

I’ve focused on women’s mental health and discipleship issues, particularly anxiety and relationships, and am eager for my clients to see the healing and transformation God offers through redemptive experiences. One of my favorite tools to bring into therapy sessions is asking my clients about their values and how they are living them out, which often leads to conversations about Scriptures, favorite Bible characters, and what it means to live out our faith.

I have a Masters of Christian Counseling in Clinical Mental Health from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and became a counselor after 8 years of working in Bible education and youth ministry. I am very comfortable with clients bringing their faith questions, church hurt, and doubts into counseling sessions, as so many people struggle with uncertainty and don’t know where they can safely voice their concerns. Being that non-judgmental presence is an honor, and one that I do not take lightly.
