After being a teacher and reading coach for over 20 years, the Lord called me to enroll in Liberty University’s graduate program and become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Part of my story is my journey of healing. Being able to talk about my faith with my counselor and process my experiences with someone who had a Christ centered perspective and followed biblical principles helped me and made a lasting impact on my life. Fast forward 15 years or so and I am now able to provide a Christ centered perspective for my own clients.

As you embark on your journey reflect on Zephaniah 3:17, “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Joy is a LMCH who works with individuals of all ages (over the age of 8). Joy is passionate about helping others find healing and peace as well as experience God’s grace, love, and mercy. She provides a trauma informed approach that is person-centered, solution-focused and designed to meet client’s individualized needs and goals. Her desire is to offer individuals a safe place to process, heal and grow.

Joy is a trained clinician in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), having completed both the basic and advanced training. ART is a unique approach to therapy which utilizes a specific protocol to activate the brain to process events, memories, or traumas which often get stuck in the right side of the brain impacting the individual in a negative way. In as few as 1-5 sessions, ART allows the brain to heal and move forward from trauma by decreasing the intensity of the sensation or distress and moving the memory to the left side of the brain providing breakthrough and relief.

Before becoming a LMHC Joy spent years facilitating and attending small groups as well as being a youth group volunteer. She was most passionate about was her church’s Freedom ministry where the focus was on learning about your identity in Christ and experiencing true freedom and healing in Christ.
