Hi, my name is Jonathan Turner. My path to becoming a Clinical Counselor has included many meaningful stops along the way. I have long felt called to serve the church and originally pursued pastoral ministry. As often happens, my plans were not the same path God ultimately led me to follow. Years later, I now have the privilege of serving the body of Christ and the broader community through counseling—and I would not change the journey. I believe this is where God wants me.

Professionally, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (#16854) in California under the supervision of Steven R. Hobbs, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and fellow Christian. I work with adults, adolescents, and children in individual, couples, and family counseling. My private practice experience includes supporting people facing challenges related to ADHD, sexual abuse, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and bipolar disorder. I am also receiving advanced training in treating sexual addiction through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals and am an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist Candidate (ASAT Candidate). In addition, my work history includes church ministry, construction, real estate, corporate management, and elementary school teaching. These varied experiences deepen my understanding and compassion for people from many walks of life.

I believe the most effective counseling theories and tools reflect principles rooted in God’s design and the truth of Scripture. Philippians 4:6–8 has significantly shaped my approach, as it connects our emotions and thoughts while showing how God calls us to address them. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process in which we explore issues, events, experiences, and memories in a supportive, safe environment. My goal is to offer compassion, encouragement, and guidance as we work together. Each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals, helping you face challenges and move toward a fulfilling life aligned with your values and aspirations. Depending on your situation, we may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches. I believe hope can be found even in the most difficult circumstances.

I would be honored to support you as you navigate life’s challenges through a compassionate therapeutic relationship. My aim is to provide steady support, encouragement, and guidance as we work together to build the skills you need to overcome obstacles. I look forward to helping you turn difficulties into opportunities for growth and empowerment.
