My husband and I have been married for 22 years, and we have a 21 year old daughter and identical twin 19 yr old sons.
I marvel at how many evidence-based secular counseling techniques follow Scriptural principles. Philippians 4:8 “Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, admirable excellent and praiseworthy, meditate on such things,” directly corresponds with solution-focused, strengths based cognitive behavioral therapy.
Isaiah 61:1 gives counselors a specific charge.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek. He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.”
I take this ministry very seriously and love to see people set free from depression , anxiety, trauma, and many other things that keep people from experiencing all God has for them in Christ Jesus.
