To ask for care is to become vulnerable, which comes from the Latin word “to wound.” Asking for what you need is to risk being wounded. Since we are created in the image of God, we are hard-wired for relationship. This means life is full of this risky business of being wounded, and likely wounding others. Hannah, licensed therapist and fellow Believer, aims for counseling to be a safe process for clients to realistically take inventory and ownership of where they are in relationship to God, others, and self. We all have a story we are telling ourselves about life, our relationships, emotions, needs, pasts and futures, yet these stories often aren’t grounded in our truest identity. Sometimes these stories are keeping us stuck, rather than free, indeed! Based on the Holy Trinity, people experience abundant life when functioning as a reciprocating self—being genuinely distinct in identity while cultivating mutually satisfying relationships. Through compassionate guidance, Hannah helps clients break unhelpful patterns, embrace their emotions with understanding, and create the meaningful connections they desire in life. When we show up as our authentic selves in meaningful relationships, we risk vulnerable wounding, but we can also experience a transformative process leading to more freedom and deeper relational satisfaction that God designed us for.
