I have been a Christian my whole life but I gave my life to Jesus when I was sixteen and was baptized at 18. I have always believed that there is an intersection between faith and mental health and I as I continued to grow in my walk, I acknowledged that by obtaining my second degree in Pastoral Counseling to get a better sense of how to use God’s Word for counseling. My therapy practice is built on John 14:27, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 and Philippians 4:6-8. These are some of the verses I use, along with stories of those who have overcome similar adversities. This can be through homework assignments, discussion of a Biblical figure in session to highlight a point a client may not be able to see objectively and/or testimonies of others who have overcome (in a brief and non-descript way that still protects the privacy of that person).
