Our life experiences, especially our early relationships, shape how we view ourselves and others, as well as how we handle closeness, trust, and connection. We may feel grateful for some experiences that helped us manage our lives and relationships effectively. However, some experiences can be painful and hard to process, understand, or accept. As a result, we learn to compensate for these difficult experiences and develop ways of living that can cause us to get stuck in patterns, making us feel depressed, anxious, and lonely, and making it harder to form meaningful relationships.

There is hope, and psychotherapy allows you to explore your life experiences and identify what has kept you stuck in old patterns. I strive to understand and empathize with each client, customizing interventions to their unique needs. Working through these deeply ingrained patterns can lead to healing and growth within a warm, safe, and trusting therapeutic relationship. As a result, one can thrive and live a more fulfilling, meaningful life with a hopeful outlook.

My approach is grounded in attachment-based therapy, which centers on helping individuals understand and strengthen their emotional connections with others, beginning with the patterns formed in early caregiver relationships. This work focuses on identifying and healing attachment-related difficulties that may have contributed to maladaptive patterns in childhood. Through this process, individuals develop healthier communication, emotional regulation, perception, and behavior, enabling them to flourish and cultivate a more fulfilling and meaningful life with a renewed sense of hope.

With a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, I bring extensive expertise to address spiritual issues relevant to some clients. My background includes clinical work at an Asian Community Mental Health Clinic in Los Angeles, serving as an Assistant Professor of Counseling Studies at the China Graduate School of Theology in Hong Kong, and founding and directing a Christian Counseling Center in Hong Kong.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Maryland, with an office located in Rockville. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to accommodate your needs. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, I am here to walk alongside you and support you on your healing journey.

I offer a complimentary 20-minute initial consultation to understand your primary concerns and to help you experience warmth, safety, and trust in a supportive environment. This meeting also allows us to assess whether we are a good therapeutic fit before establishing a regular therapy schedule.
