I was born into the church and the Lord revealed His purpose for me to become a Christian clinical psychologist after I sought Him in prayer at the age of 17. In 2006, my doctoral dissertation was about The Impact of Christianity and God-Mediated Locus of Control on Adolescent Risky Behaviors to promote how actualized Christian faith among youth positively impacts mental health outcomes. My passion was to work in youth ministry and help churches to engage youth proactively in ways that enhance their spiritual and mental health.
I have many years of experience and specialized expertise in the mental health industry. As a PSYPACT provider, I can provide telepsychology to clients residing in multiple states. I have the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and can practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT in any PSYPACT participating states. My therapeutic style can be described as holistic compassionate care with a strengths-based approach within a Biblical worldview. One of my areas of expertise is integrating Christian faith with evidence-based psychological treatments. For example, one of my favorite evidence-based treatments is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as it aligns with the Scripture in Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Christian counseling utilizing faith-based coping strategies is applied to enhance resilience. Depending on the individual client, faith-based coping strategies may include prayer, exploring Scriptures that relates to the client’s presenting concerns, and implementing relaxation techniques that draw the client closer to Christ.
My hope for you is that each session with me leaves you feeling hopeful, liberated, equipped, and empowered, which guides my work based on one of my favorite Scriptures in Isaiah 61:1:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
