I entered the counseling field as a professional after completing a Master’s program in Mental Health Counseling through Liberty University when I was in my mid-fifties. I had been involved in Christian ministry for many years and found I was passionate about mental health as I encountered many people in the church who were struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other mental health issues. I felt strongly that God was calling me into this area of service and I received a very timely, affirming, and encouraging prophetic word that I believed was confirmation. I chose Liberty University because I wanted to integrate a biblically grounded Christian worldview with effective, evidence based, therapeutic interventions. As a “seasoned” therapist I am able to provide, along with my education and training, much life experience, incorporating faith, if desired, with practical strategies and tools for success.

God created human beings in His image with body, mind, and spirit, intending for all parts to function together in unity and wholeness.  Many Scripture verses reflect God’s intention for the care of our mental health, including the practice of mindfulness and the understanding that we can be “transformed by the renewing of (our) minds” (Romans 12:2). The belief that we have the creative ability to “change our minds” informs my therapeutic practice and it is my passion to help individuals who desire to regain a sense of clarity, hope, and joy in living life.
