Being a PK (pastor’s kid), I have known of God practically all my life, though I did not develop a true relationship with him until I grew older, and quite frankly, until life began to push me to the point that I couldn’t help but to lean on Him. Over the years, I went from living on borrowed faith to now basking in the first-hand experience of Psalm 34:8, “taste and see that the Lord is good”. Being a product of divorce at a very young age, I had a deep desire for relational harmony, both for myself and others. In hindsight, I see why Luke 6:27-36 was a scripture that really captured my heart early on in my faith journey. While that desire still lives in me, I no longer see it solely as a means of human satisfaction or fulfillment. Now, I recognize that it is really about the great commission spoken in Matthew 28:19. I came to discover that God did not just give me this desire to figure out on my own, but He shares in it with me. Getting to experience harmony with God and His children has given me a joy and peace that surpasses human understanding.
