Hi, I’m Amelia Mora Mars, a Christian Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #102384), a wife of over 35 years, and a proud mother of ten. I know firsthand the heartache of growing up in a home marked by untreated mental illness and emotional absence. My mother’s unpredictable rage and unmet pain left me anxious and overly responsible, often trying to shield my siblings from the chaos. I carried a deep fear of becoming a mother myself.

But at 19, I encountered Jesus and everything changed. In my early 20s, I asked Him to heal my heart and help me to forgive her. Through that healing, I became the kind of mother I longed for. Today, I walk alongside women with similar stories, especially daughters of emotionally unavailable mothers, helping them stop believing the lies, trust in their God-given worth, and become emotionally present, safe, and loving mothers.

My favorite Scripture is John 12:24—”Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” I believe healing often begins in surrender. I also hold close 1 Thessalonians 2:7: “But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children.” This Scripture provides the balance of grace and truth, where healing can flourish.

I’m also the Board Chair of Childhood Matters, in partnership with the Family Justice Center, where we advocate for mental health and emotional safety in early childhood.

Outside of therapy, I’m happiest near the ocean, coffee in hand, our doodles nearby, and surrounded by my family. These ordinary moments feel like gifts from God.
