As Christians, we are not called to a life of isolation but rather a life lived in rich and fruitful relationship. The problem with that is we are most often wounded by people. 

I had come to a place in 2003, where I felt I was “stuck”, I felt I had “hit a wall”, unable to walk in and experience what I was reading in my Bible and hearing preached each week. That was when my own healing journey began. Over time, the Lord began to uncover many wounds and the resulting lies caused by my life experiences and some of the dynamics of my family of origin. These had laid down faulty and harmful ways of seeing myself, others and even God, reaping destruction and more pain in my life instead of the love, joy and peace Christ had promised me. My experience in Christian counseling helped my understanding of what 2 Corinthians 5:17 means when it says the old is gone and allowed me to appropriate what Christ had done to bring about the new (Ephesians 2:10, Romans 12:2). I have had the benefit of receiving counseling from both professionals and lay ministers. God used each of them in different seasons to bring about healing and change displaying more of the fruit of His spirit in all areas of my life. 

God is a God of multiplication, asking His followers to pour into others what He has poured into them (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He’s called me to partner with Him in helping men and women walk with Him in freedom— emotional, spiritual and relational. He begun that work in me many years ago, and continues it to this day using a variety of counselors and trusted leaders in my life.

Friend, the good news is, we aren’t only wounded but are also healed in relationship. God choose to use people to heal and “re-family” us (Psalm 68:6) and help us to learn to walk in the fullness of who we are in Jesus and who we are to be in this earth as He is in heaven.
