Hello! My name is Rebecca! I’m a pastoral counselor and life coach.
The reason I became a counselor, is not just because God has called me and I’ve always had a heart to help people, but because I went through my own mental health struggles in my adolescence as a result of a medical crisis. I struggled with major depression and suicidal thoughts and ideation, that God graciously rescued me from back in 2016.
I see counseling as a ministry, being able to sit and listen to people and share the love of God with them.
I currently work with love children and adolescents, and women, but also would love to help pastors and leaders in ministry. I desire to help others accomplish their goals and to achieve health and healing physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
I use a Biblical approach in counseling, using principles as forgiveness, but will also assist in other areas like setting boundaries, helping with career choices, relationships, etc. The Bible is my primary tool with counseling, as it is the foundation of all of my treatment methods.
I developed Sound Mind based on 2 Timothy 1:7, which says “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” Other scriptures that have set the foundation of my counseling practice include Galatians 6:2, which says “Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ,” as well as Isaiah 43:1, and Psalms 34.
My practice is primarily virtual though a platform called Doxy.Me, but I do meet with individuals in person who are in the capital region of New York State.
My credentials:
Board Certified Mental Health Coach, Board Certified Pastoral Counselor, and Board Certified Brain Health Coach through the AACC
Licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapist through the National Association of Christian Counselors.
