You love each other, but money issues just keep getting in the way. A credit card surprise. Previously-undisclosed debt. One of you wants to save; the other wants to live for today. You’ve had the same argument over and over, and nothing ever really gets resolved. And underneath it all, you wonder: is this just how it’s going to be?…did I marry the wrong person?

Financial conflict is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons against marriage, and he doesn’t need a dramatic crisis to do damage. The slow accumulation of unresolved tension, misaligned values, and unspoken resentment is enough. Most couples don’t realize how vulnerable they are until the damage is already done.

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24 (NASB). One flesh means one life, holistically, including finances. But most couples treat money the way our culture does, as if it has nothing to do with the covenant they made before God. The enemy counts on that.

You aren’t just building a household budget. You’re in a covenant before the Lord of the universe, and that covenant deserves more than your best intentions and a hope that things will get better on their own. Financial conflict doesn’t just strain a marriage; it creates an opening for resentment, isolation, and eventually divorce. The enemy knows this. Most couples don’t, until it’s too late.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3 (NASB)

As a Dave Ramsey Master Financial Coach and a Certified Christian Life Coach, I serve couples in the early years of marriage at the intersection of faith, finances, and marriage. I draw on Scripture as the foundation for every session, helping couples unpack what each of them brought into the marriage about money, build a shared language and vision, and close the gap between where they are and the marriage they committed to build together.

If money is a constant source of tension in your marriage and you’re ready to do something about it, I’d love to talk. Schedule a free discovery call and let’s find out if we’re a good fit.
