Welcome to Holos Soul Care! Where your story and God’s story meet.
What does Holos Soul Care Offer?
Strategic Story Exploration.
Our stories can be painful and chaotic, or numbingly blasé, but they are never random. Your story, like any good story (and yours is a good story – no exceptions), there are layers upon layers of meaning, full of characters, plot and context, and if understood properly, is an incredible story. Your story holds the keys to your true identity, destiny and connection with God’s larger story. But for story exploration to be helpful, it must be strategic. Holos Soul Care can skillfully guide you in exploring the parts of your story, and in the right way to bring growth, healing and integration.
Heart Focused.
The French mathematician, philosopher and theologian, Blaise Pascal, is famous for the statement, “The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.” Life has a way of causing us to lose heart. Until we can recover our heart, we will be plagued with urges, desires and addictions we don’t fully understand. Holos Soul Care can help you recover your heart, your story, and a connection with God.
A “Soul’s Pace.”
True change and growth only happen at a “soul’s pace”, and a soul’s pace is said to be the speed of a leisurely walk with a good friend, about three miles per hour, slow, steady, sustainable and life-giving. A well lived life is not a sprint, but a marathon. Holos Soul Care can help you gain the skills to go the distance.
Resistance Friendly.
You make sense. Why you do what you do makes sense, your actions, your thoughts and feelings/bodily sensations. You are not “broken” like you suppose. You are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Whether you go numb or go ballistic, Holos Soul Care can help you understand yourself and your resistance to deep and lasting change.
Spiritual Warfare.
The Apostle Paul says that the enemy prowls about like a roaring lion looking for those he may devour. And Jesus said that there is a thief who comes to kill, steal and destroy. As image bearers (the imago Dei) of God, we are marked for opposition and sometimes the struggle we experience in life is not just circumstantial but a targeted assault. Holos Soul Care can help with experiencing spiritual freedom and walking in spiritual authority to stay free.
Memory Reconsolidation.
Until about twenty years ago, neuroscientists thought that once a memory was consolidated in the brain, it could no longer be updated leaving those with traumatic memories to do their best to establish new thought patterns to outcompete the traumatic memory. While building the skills to outcompete a traumatic memory are helpful, the daily fight to stay on top can be exhausting. The truth is that God made our brains with the ability to reconsolidate memories and there are countless people throughout history who have experienced this with incredible results. Neuroscience has now closed the gap from fumbling into the right conditions for memory reconsolidation to being purposeful about creating the right conditions. Still challenging, yes. Still hard work, yes. The good news is that Jesus is a master at memory reconsolidation.
Modern Neuroscience and Ancient Biblical Wisdom.
Matthew 13:52 reads, “Therefore, every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”
Biography of Ed Moore
Ed Moore established Holos Soul Care in 2015. Ed sees his identity as a beloved son the Heavenly Father, and a passionate follower of Jesus. He hasn’t ceased being a pilgrim on this journey of life and embracing the reality of being a “messy ragamuffin.” Ed remains in awe that God has chosen someone like him – imperfect as he is – to provide soul care and spiritual support to others.
Ed’s relationship with faith began at the young age of five. Over the course of more than fifty years, his spiritual path has included times of re-examination and renewal, sometimes through a simple desire for more, but more often than not forced upon by the realities of living in a fallen world. Like many who have walked a long faith journey, Ed has found himself working out his salvation repeatedly, discovering fresh encounters with Jesus throughout his life.
Ed holds a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. Since 2010, he has served in a professional capacity, offering compassionate soul care and guidance to those seeking spiritual and emotional growth. He also has a B.S. from Auburn University in Environmental Science.
Ed shares his life with his wife, Lynn. Together, they have two daughters and three grandchildren. Their household also includes two rescue pets – a dog named Roxy and a cat named Rusty. The family resides in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, in a home affectionately called “The Abbey.” Their hope is that this space serves as a sanctuary where God’s presence is palpable and accessible to all who enter.
Ed can often being found wandering the woods of East Tennessee in his endless fascination with all of God’s creation. And much to his wife’s chagrin, often stopping to take pictures of everything.
