ABOUT ME
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
Hello, my name is Rev. Dr. Kevin William Burt, and I have been blessed to walk alongside individuals and families through the storms of life for over two decades. As a Board-Certified Chaplain, Board Certified Christian Counselor, and a highly-trained Trauma Professional—my mission is to bring hope, healing, and restoration through the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.
My Calling and Personal Testimony:
After surviving deep personal trauma, food addiction, and spiritual despair, I gave my life to Christ on September 17, 2001 after reading a Pocket Bible given to me by a visiting Pastor at a Vacation Bible Study at a small Episcopal Church in my small town. One Summer, when I around ten-years-old, my Grandmother insisted that I went to our local VBS, because I needed to meet “new people,” that weren’t found in a book, but real life. Although I was annoyed at my Grandmother in the that moment, little did I know that decision would later-on in life, forever save me. God didn’t just save my life—He repurposed my pain into a calling. He transformed my trauma into testimony and gave me a passion for helping others do the same.
My journey of recovery within Him, led to the creation of a Biblically grounded, clinically informed approach I call, “Remissive-Recovery”—a path of healing that honors both the spiritual remission of sin and the psychological recovery from trauma.
Scriptures That Guide My Work:
2 Corinthians 12:9 9 (ESV) – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Romans 12:2 (ESV) – “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Isaiah 61:1-3 (ESV) – “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives…”
These Scriptures don’t just inspire me—they shape my counseling method and my spiritual direction in every session.
My Therapeutic Approach – Remissive-Recovery:
My unique framework blends clinical insight, pastoral compassion, and biblical truth to walk with individuals through:
Grief & Loss
Addiction & Co-occurring Disorders
Religious Trauma & Spiritual Abuse
PTSD & Complex Trauma
Marriage & Family Restoration
Remissive-Recovery emphasizes:
God’s grace as the foundation of healing
The renewing of the mind through Scripture
Re-authoring one’s story from trauma to testimony
Empowering clients to live in the freedom of God’s forgiveness and personal purpose
What You Can Expect:
I provide group, individual, couples, and family sessions rooted in love, nonjudgmental support, Scripture-based wisdom, and trauma-informed tools. Every session is covered in prayer, tailored to your needs, and led by the Spirit.
Whether you are battling addiction, walking through grief, dealing with a mental health diagnosis, or seeking spiritual growth—I will meet you with grace, walk with you in truth, and encourage you toward wholeness.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me… to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve… to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes…” — Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
