I accepted Christ as a child and soon developed a deep curiosity about the truths of the Bible and how it can inform our real-life relationships, because I came from a very dysfunctional family myself. As a college student going on mission trips, I felt a call to Christian Counseling and began the educational process of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. After receiving a Ph.D. in Psychology from a theological seminary, I worked for decades in numerous local churches directing counseling, recovery, and support ministries. These days I have my own practice and specialize in common relationship and personal issues that affect so many, both men and women, who want solutions found in Christ and his Word. I am also a Board Certified Coach serving those who want to set personal goals and achieve them.

Some of my favorite passages of the Bible are Proverbs 3:5-7, Philippians 4:4-9, and Romans 8 (the whole chapter). God, his Word, and personal discipleship are what we all need most. But Christian Counseling is much more than just quoting scripture. It’s also being “quick to hear and slow to speak” (James 1:19), because anyone wanting help needs to share their experiences, thoughts, feelings, and questions about life in the context of a safe, confidential relationship. I’ve “been there, done that” myself, and benefitted greatly from it. It’s very helpful to interact with someone who cares enough to ask us questions and helps us process things. Jesus, himself, was fond of asking folks, “What do you want me to do for you?” Then, after hearing their concern, he went right to the heart of it – whether it was relational, mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. We all need what only Jesus offers plus, as someone once said, “God with skin on.” It would be my privilege to be that person for you regardless of what life has thrown at you.
