Heather is a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker, and she is a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work under Virginia Board-Approved Supervision. She has been providing counseling to youth and their families over the last 12 years. She has experience working with marital and family struggles, anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anger management, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) impulsivity and emotional regulation, addictions, trauma, behavioral struggles and learning difficulties. When working with clients in seasons of suffering, Heather sees it as an opportunity to reflect on the truth of scripture that gives hope beyond a client’s current circumstances. Through goal setting and identifying the unique God-given strengths that each person has, Heather works with clients to identify ways to overcome struggles together and look forward to the Lord’s perfect plan for their life. Heather leans towards a Christian Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approach to help clients to “take their thoughts captive”. Heather is also experienced in Mindfulness, Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Therapy. She also sees the value in seeing the client as a whole person, taking into account medical conditions that can impact mental health. Heather sees clients in person at the Colonial Heights location or virtually for clients located in the state of Virginia. In her free time, Heather can be found spending time with her family, serving her church, reading or tending to her vegetable garden.
